Will a 5.3 out of a 4x4 chevy with the 4l60 bolt up to my existing transfer case or what to do about that? Is there a simple fix for that? I drove my j10 to a repair shop 60 miles away and it is so slow that I got passed by a Kia Soul hampster car. My GW has to have ls power as I want it as a daily. Any and all help is appreciated..

That’s a loaded question, need more info like year of your truck, which side drop is the current tcase, ect. But the short answer is no. But there are options, like if your current case is a driver drop, the tcase attached to that engine and transmission will work with some modifications. We just need more info.

Well, your Wag is an 87, correct? I second utilizing (if possible) the driver side case behind the LS donor drivetrain and just get new shafts made. If electronically switched, it may be more work than you want to deal with. Have you checked out the LS swap mega thread here under the fuel injection index? Lots of different paths to achieve the same thing. I'm not big on Fakebook, but their FSJ LS swap group is phenomenal for solid info.

The NP 228/229 is cool, but I'd do whatever comes behind the LS/tranny combo.

I would also note that the Kia was probably at WOT and hauling maybe 2/3 the weight your truck was. And which one is still gonna be around in 30 years or so?
