Did these transmissions not have magnets in the pan lol.
Doing full fluid oil changes on my 76 J1p.. and the transmission pan has no magnet ? Thats new to me.. but ive never touched a th400.
Ill probably buy one and put it in there before i put it back together.. but thats weird to me.
And whats the fluid capacity refill ? I sware ive never seen so much trans fluid come out befire its like the whole thing dumped out.. Wondering if i even need to bother now with flushing outa the cooling line by running it and refilling. The fluid was orangish red though.. so probly never changed

The top elements in TH400 are the black clutch materials and aluminum, so magnets are not that helpful.
Just keep filter replaced is the best thing next to a GOOD high quality cooler. Definity a cool!!!
I got a nice strong magnet set from autozone. For 1$ discounted getting rid of pile.
Super super strong. Rectangle shaoed.. so itll fit in a diff cover too.. think ill put the other one in the rear diff cover.. that thing had antiseize looking goop it was so neglected no magnet doesnt help

The magnet was only in the 4 inch "deep" pan which wasn't available when Jeep bought these transmissions. Not sure what all vehicles had them, but I'm pretty sure 1st gen HMMWV's, CUCV's and probably 6.2L civilian trucks had them.
