Does anyone want to be converted to TBI while at Ouray?

I've ended up with a couple of extra TBI wiring harnesses/sensors/TBI unit/adapter/TFI dizzy/TFI coil/etc.

I was thinking how cool would it be to go from a vapor locking, hard starting, rich running carb to a near perfect running TBI in one day?

All you would need to provide is the Jeep itself, 10' of 3/8" fuel line (about $20), E2000 fuel pump (about $80) and $100. Installation included ;)

If interested, lemme know and we can discuss the specifics. I really think that that we can perform the swap in a couple of hours at the KOA, but we need to discuss the specifics before hand and I would want a pic of your engine compartment so I can prep the harness.

You must let me know here pretty quick so we can discuss.

Very true. If anyone wants to do this they should get a $20 O/2 sensor welded in before hand.

Most exhaust shops have them.

Tin Medic and I are working on the details of the swap.

He is prepping his jeep and I'm prepping the TBI. The plan is to have it all prepped and ready to go for a very quick and smooth TBI conversion right there in camp at the KOA.

I wanna document the conversion while at Ouray and see if it makes a good story for the front page of this site!

I would like to be around for the install and if you have an extra setup I can buy it from you. I need it for the chop-top, but taking the Cat. 8-)

When I had my exh. manifold off I brazed the bung onto it like the 90 Chev 350 pick up had.

why not just make one of these. pick up a clamp and a bung and weld them together. you could probably make it for half the price.

Napa has mild steel HO2 bungs for pretty cheap. That's what I used.

Are you guys gonna use the vehicle speed sensor? Is it a 7427?

We haven't talked about a VSS. I'm not running a VSS on the J20 or the Honcho, but do have one on the waggy.

Totally optional on the 7747 and I'm not sure what it really gives you (unless running a 7427 PCM with 4l60e/4l80e tranny).

It's possible. You just use a 4.3L TBI.

Yeah, TBI onto a the stock straight six shouldn't be a problem at all. I suppose you would just need to get the correct adapter plate and you would be set. All the wiring is the same regardless of what kind of engine it's going on.

We could make it an annual ritual to convert at least one person over to TBI. I think it would be even cooler to do it on top of a pass.

Tin Medic and I have exchanged a ton of PM's and I think he is right on pace for a very successful TBI conversion. He is performing much of the legwork ahead of time and that is the key.

I'm shooting for a total conversion time of 1 hour from the time we start until it purrs like a kitten on some old school TBI.

Now I need to stop fiddling with my projects and prepare his new wiring harness....
