Fall Ride at Uwharrie

Did you miss the East Coast Invasion? Did you make it to the Invasion, and just can't get enough Full Size Jeep camaraderie? Do you just need an excuse to dust off your FSJ and go camping?

The Carolina Full Size Jeep Club is hosting a fall ride on the Uwharrie National Forest September 27-29. We've reserved the Badin Lake Group Campground SITE A for Friday and Saturday nights.

Unlike the East Coast Invasion, we don't have the entire Group Campground, only SITE A.

This event is an informal get-together, anyone with a Full Size Jeep is welcome and encouraged to attend.

We don't have any scheduled events or rides, this is just a weekend to come hang out... Hope to see you there! :D

Just here me through before I get cussed for bringing a knife to a gun fight here. I would really be interested in attending and I figured out my uncle lives 20-30 min away from uwharrie in Pinehurst and we talked about me coming down there for a couple days sometime when a meet is going on. He has an lr3 (in the army and got it for as much as a civic with military discount when he was stationed in Germany) and he has it in his mind that his sophisticated land rover is better than any jeep, well, I wanna prove him wrong :D I think he'd only do the easy trails since its his dd but I would like to come :-bd

Common down! We know you'll make it down in your FSJ someday! :-P

Just be prepared, as a start: Why don't the British make computers?

Because they can't figure out how to make them leak oil!

Here's some of our pictures from the weekend:

Sorry, we didn't get any pictures on Friday. :(

Getting ready for a trail ride on Saturday

The first trail we hit on Saturday was Daniel (from Rocky Mtn loop to the top of the rocky hill climb and back)

It was a beautiful day to hang out at the top of the rocky hill climb on Daniel

Some of us hiked down to the ledges at the beginning of Daniel... Coming up from the Cotton Woods trail-head, the first ledge is wider and not as steep as it was in the past, but it is still quite difficult. The second ledge has some really deep ruts and leans you toward the downhill side where the hill has eroded quite a bit. There's high potential for drivetrain damage and passenger side body damage. The tight switchback above the ledges is still there.

First ledge (Sungoesdown for size reference, keep in mind he's 4'7" tall  lol JK)

The Suzuki's bumper had a disagreement with a tree...

The fall leaves were far from peak, but we did see some

Ready for another ride
Image

We rode Wolfden, Wolfden connector, Falls Dam and Dickey Bell up to the hill climb, then back down to the gravel road.

There was a rumor that part of the hill climb on Dickey Bell was closed... as you can see here, it's wide open
