Cool design. What gauge is it though? I've made one and had to move up to 3/16. It would flex way too much in the bumps.

edit: And to whoever posted Coors Batch 19 as "man beer"... Brown colored Coors is still chick beer. :)

Not sure what gauge. It was scrap from my neighbor's dune buggy project...he used it for the exterior panels. The whole thing wobbles a little, but is surprisingly secure. It's thicker and heavier than any computer panels I work with. The weakest point is definitely the vertical part going into the door. If I was mass producing them, I would definitely go up a size. Maybe someone at our Thanksgiving in the Desert next weekend will recognize the gauge.

I think I would cut a small square of out the corner & bend the exterior edges down to make them safe instead of the rubber not only would it be better it would reinforce it. You could do the same on the angled side of the down piece then it would be strong as you need. (90 degree bend would rock it. How you run the coax will be interesting. :ugeek:

It is actually not very sharp...I was worried about that and ground down all the edges, then the bedliner sprayed on it actually smooths it more. And the antenna is somewhat flexible, though I could put a spring on it too. Time will tell I guess :)

I ran the coax around the window track and into the back. Door doesn't even seem to pinch it, though that could be more due to my doors not sealing well than anything. LOL.

It's definitely not a brown colored Coors beer, it has more. Hops than a normal Coors beer, what is your "man beer"?

Now back on topic, drew where's the PDF? I have metal waiting.

I'm not even sure I'll have the means to do that...we're moving this weekend and I may not have access to my tools for a while (think garage full of boxes). Will keep you posted though.

Yeah, I owe you that. We moved this weekend and everything is a huge mess. So I can't promise it will be terribly soon...

How are you going to route the antenna wire into the cab?

There is enough space between tailgate and frame that it's run through without getting pinched.

impressive, but I am a fellow of the keep it simple system, a hole in the roof with enough silicone and you are all set.... a detachable antenna and all you have a stub on the roof... in fact I use the magnet mount and route the cable on the back door .... yes tacky for easy to set up and remove.

This^ and you are done.
It's an old jeep, it's not like you are looking to put hi-def HDTV into one of these things.
If you are, you picked the wrong platform to start with.

i just saw this thread and i really like the mount design. now that it's several years later, what do you think of the design? did it scratch the paint? did the coax continue to do well? was there a weak spot in the design of the mount? did it stay attached to the body of the jeep as desired? Thanks!
