Archer's '82 J10

Post by cjarcher »

Here are a couple of photos of the '82 J10 I just bought today. I was driving down a local road a few weeks ago and saw it parked in an old barn. I stopped and asked if I could buy it. The original owner, an elderly man, sold it to me for $2,800. It has 67k original miles on a 258 w/ TH400. Still had the owner's manual in the glove box.

Nice looking J10!

The Trans won't be a TH400 though. Being its an '80+ it will be either an TF904 or a TF727. Depending if it has a tow package or not. Very clean looking though. Wish the interior on my J10 looked half that good :P

Thanks for the info Stuka. How can I tell if it has the towing package or not? It doesn't have a reese receiver.

Nice find! My J20 had 62K on it when I got it but needed a ton of work... I paid about the same to buy mine too.

You can see if the front axle still has the gear tag on it. It gets bolted to the dif cover. The rear axle has two tiny letters stamped in the dif housing just to the right of the dif cover.

2.73 gears = no tow package
3.31 gears = tow package.

The front tag wont say 3.31 or 2.73, but rather it will have the pinion and ring gear tooth counts.

Welcome! An interesting mix of 258, auto, 208, electric windows and locks without the Laredo trim. Congrats!
