8" Wheels, 33x12.50 ok?

Post by Renodemona »

Hey gang!
I currently have 15x8 wheels with 30x9.50s on them. Down the road I'd like to install the 4" lift sitting in the corner of my garage. Do 33x12.50s work with the 8" rim? I have seen that several rigs have 33s but some have narrower widths. Suggestions? Concerns? '76 Cherokee w/t

Should be fine. Stock you can run 31's and at least on j trucks you can squeeze a 32-33 on stock.

I've always ran 12.50's on 8" rims and never had a problem.

Cool, thanks for the fast replies! (Guess others were bored with the game too?) I got the 30s on sale and the suspension is super saggy. I knew I would lift down the road so i wasn't too concerned with them for now.

33x12.50's in a wide trac with 8" wheels works fine, if your suspension is really bad it may rub some. But you should be ok.

My Honcho has 31's now and I want to go to 33's How can I tell if I have wide track axels?

If I went to 15"x10" rims, what sort of backspace would I need to clear?

Thanks!

Charles, the honcho is a wide trac. It has the factory flares. All the trucks were wide trac, all waggies were narrow trac and the Cherokee could be either.

I've been running 35x12.5s on factory GM rally rims on my J truck with no lift and have had no problems with rubbing when off road. I did roll the edges of my rear fenders in some just in case. It is a bit close to the spring in the rear, but it has never been an issue. I am currently starting a SOA and shackle flip. By the way, thanks for the help Tad. :D

I have 33x12.50" tires on my factory 15x8" wide wheels with a 4 inch lift. Zero problems.

Even ran the same tires on some 15x7" wheels in the past without any issue.
