They're growing on me... I just walk out to the garage and check them out- each time I like them more and more.
I do like the white wall look on the hot rods, I've never seen them on a jeep before, so I figured why not!?!
To be honest, though, when I first put them on the jeep, I thought I ruined a set of tires and wasted my time because at first I thought it didn't fit the idea of a JEEP. They grew on me and with the dash painted, it all now kind of ties in together pretty well... So thanks for voicing your opinion, even if I agree with you! :)
I did trade some parts for the tires and bought a can of tire paint from Iceland, to they're " Murphy Whitewalls".
I'd have to trade and/or sell a ton more jeep parts to buy a set of real wide white wall tires. Maybe after the months of body work and the final coat of paint is dried.

I am so glad this Waggy got saved and that it is getting deserved attention. I looked at it in 2003 when it was for sale on the north side of Flagstaff. I was so broke back then, I could not pay attention much less for this Jeep.

I hear ya on that one. The "before" shots above your post were taken in Flagstaff! I know I have my own "before" shots somewhere on my computer, but I can't seem to find them. I rely on my stupid "smart" phone way too much any more.

Well, one step forward, two steps back. I test drive her today on this sunny but 30 degree day and 4h doesn't shift! Luckily I have a spare shifter mechanism off a 72 I pulled off awhile back... But still a pain. So i guess the interior isn't getting done anytime soon! :x

Then it kept dying like it wasn't getting any gas even though it had a 1/2 tank of 89 octane... Then I remembered that it had an electric fuel pump on it when I first bought it... So, I have some work to do!

The good news is that I took the afternoon off from jeepin and put Christmas lights back on the garage (something chewed up the last set), hung a few 12' sheet rock panels, worked some joint compound and finished up insulating the front half of the garage. AND I mocked up the mustang driver's seat and it doesn't required custom built brackets! Yeah! :-bd

Meanwhile, I couldn't resist some pics.

Thanks Jaber, I am digging them, too.

The passenger side has the beauty rings, the driver's side does not. Do you think it looks better with, or without the beauty rings?

I have the other two, but need to paint them first. So many little things to do!

Thanks for the input knucklehead. I am still trying to decide.

Update:

I spent all day tracing the gas lines and found a kink that was stopping the flow of gas (only after I replaced/relocated the fuel filter and installed an electric fuel pump!). So it's now running on the engine's fuel pump again thanks to a new 3' gas line. At least it runs for now. No test drive due to an unexpected dusting of snow and then rain.

Well, she's dialed in with a new Dana 20 shifter and now she runs flawlessly! I'm pretty stoked about that. I did cut the shifter handle and re-weld it at a better angle to fit the Super wagoneer console.

Image

I mocked up the carpet and the seats. I might have to dye the carpet, though. It looks a little light to me. I am not sure what color I am going to paint the center console... I am leaning toward the same color as the dash.

Here's the door panel fabric sewed up ready for install. This is the color scheme for the whole interior... With a shot of the dash to compare...

I almost forgot... Time for some Angry Orchard hard cider.

Just a few things done... Templates for the carpet for the console.

I wrapped the steering wheel with a cover, wrapped the steering column shaft, installed a vintage tachometer, put on the horn button, still working on the glove box door.

Time to refurbish the center console. It would be nice to get the 4wd lights hooked up, but I am missing the knob-things on the transfer case to relay the signals to the lights. If you have a working set to spare, let me know!

Most of the searches end up with something like "jeep's dana 20 has indicator switches!?!?". Lol. 4wd doesn't list one for the d20. There are threads about a conversion switch...

The quadratrac link shows a single pin unit for the quadratrac case and the Dana 300. Both are single pin, the dana 20 is a double pin unit....

Maybe I'll pulled the switches off my truck's Dana 300 and see if it will fit?

It seems to me that the D-18, 20, and 300 all used the same size switch, but could be wrong. It could just be the 18s and 20s. :banghead:
If you cant find one, I can check my parts pile...

That'd be great.

I will check the interchangeability on the 300 at least.

Chances are, after all this effort and research, it won't even work! Lol

Just did a guick google and this was the first link up. This guy used a back up switch and wired one end to ground and the other to the light. Its a simple Napa part also. :-bd

The other thing I'm reading is that most Jeep D-20s did not have the switch.

Just went out and checked, the size and thread count is the same on the QT switch and the Dana 20.
I'll try to get pics.

With pretty much any part time case, the 4wd light is kind of redundant...

I understand why you want it, I'm just saying...
