Oh cool. That should be a nice upgrade in power.

Which NP205 do you have? A figure 8 or a round?

Just catching up with this. Good to see some progress has been made. While everything is covered with snow here, it is good to see someone getting something done.

The KA24E in those hardbodies is quite a workhorse. I know my old hardbody was a great little truck.

Good to see the transplant has started :)

Looking good Tad. I still laugh when you out west guys talk about rust! Your Wagons cleaner then most 5 year old truck around here.

That NP205 is a direct bolt on (with adapter of course) to your 2wd short shaft Th400. Only difference is the 4WD has a groove machined into the splines for an O-ring to seal the output shaft to the t-case. Just use some RTV on the splines when you mate the things together and it will seal fine.

What'cha doing with the 350? I could go for a 4bbl on mine.

Looks like you are making great progress. Everyone suggested the step up in the cam as the factory one is set for smog. Mine seems peppy, but its not going to win any races.
The Dana 20 was a direct bolt on for my Caddy TH400 also. If you want to drive it right away. I set mine up to use the stock shafts.
Glad to help, just let me know... \m/

Oh ya, and I have 1/2" between me heater box and valve cover, and Hydroboost is in right-side-up, with no bodylift. Although I only have about 4" between the oil pan and axle... :-o

Gotcha. 300k on a Buick 350, those motors are tough! Was the Jeep originally powered by the Buick 350?

Yes it started out as a '70 Wag B350, I swapped in a '71 Skylark motor back in 2002.
It was a great engine, no complaints at all about it.
I rode it hard, it did many miles: Ouray 4 times, Las Cruces 4 times, plus countless trips with the AZ folks.
I killed it. it's my fault. I put it up broken and tired, time to move on.
This rig will do one more trip to Ouray.
After that it gets parked in NM and becomes a trailer queen.
Hence: the Rockwell's in my yard.
Sounds like it's gonna be one helluva trailer queen! The only way to badassify her for the future is to learn from the past, right? :D

Coming along nicely. Wish I had a fenced in yard with a concrete slab like that. Was under my truck today changing the oil and looking at how many things I would love to do to it.

Really need to ditch the 6" springs and go SOA. Maybe this will be the year! :)
