Ive tried resizing and resizing again. Basically the file requirements for an avatar are beyond small. In order to get my pics within the 100x146 16.6kb i have to make them microscopic. all of my pics have been taken with a 10yo digital camera or my 4yo cell phone and still the files are TOO LARGE even after resize

Ive noticed very few members have avatars and i believe it to be a result of the pic requirements. what do i need to do to get a decent avatar pic? Im a member of 5 forums and have been using them for the better part of 8 years. Ive never had any trouble creating an avatar until today. Suggestions?

If you are using Windows, then download irfanview and cut the DPI to 72. Or email it to me and I can adjust it for you.

What are you using to edit them? If you are using paint, it likes to save things at bitmaps, which are gigantic. If you save it as a jpg, you should have no problem getting them to fit into the size requirements.

What is the data size on your avatar that you use other places?

I fixed the problem using irfanview.

the old adage holds true "you need to be smarter than the equipment you operate" :banghead:

I just wish they made a version for Linux. I have to load my XP side (dual boot), do the images then mail them to myself. I just had a buddy help me dump Win 7 from my laptop and go Linux Mint Qiana version.

I do but it doesn't seem to turn out right when I do it (can't read the directions either)
