1967 Resto-Mod Build: 4:1 Quadcab

Lol, it’s gotta be a Thriftside for me! I’ll be running steelies and the Jeep hubcaps on her with 33’s.

The passenger’s side is buttoned up- the radiator and shroud are buttoned up, too, but I had to massage the fan shroud into a slightly different position as the fan was rubbing on the shroud.

The air cleaner required some cutting and fiberglass.

I quess I am about 1/2” off the stock clearance.

Today is the driver’s side: battery and the two brains!

I’m still trying to figure out AC, and heat. Stock, or aftermarket!?

It would have to be stock Jeep as the Chevy stuff for the 01 “Sliverodeo” was too dang big to use in the FSJ- I tried! Lol.

Meanwhile I just wrapped up the batt. and the two brains. More fiberglass may be in order to hide the open areas.

Reflashed unit going in:

Slice and dice, but no glass needed:

Fits like a glove:

Next phase, opps, I didn’t take enough pics of the bracket fabrication. Too busy I guess.

Is it weird that the color of top of the battery bothers me? It does not match the grays and blacks. Insert eye roll emoticon here!

Not weird...not when you've put a lot of time into something like this! It kind of looks like a plastic tool box sitting there. :P

Haha, true!

Redundant pics, but it helps me reinforce the idea that I need to dab up some kind “factory” looking shield to hide it all on the driver’s side.

I did get two of the rims done today despite the rain.

Image

Welded tabs to them to fit the 60’s dog dish caps:

I took the rims off the 75 J10 and found it had drum brakes up front.

1967 Resto-Mod Build: 4:1 Quadcab

Post by 66stepside »

Today was a marathon of rim restoration.

Image

A combo of 5 and 6 lug (the 5 lug is for the wife’s Commando).

Yesterday was a 71 j4000 cab disassemble. I’ve never seen so much rust in the floorboards.

Image

I need parts off of the cab for the quad cab build and I’m trying to free up a bit of space.

What paint are you using? Just gloss white rustoleum or are you actually spraying them with a gun? They look great! Exactly how I want my 8 lug rims to come out when I redo them

Thanks! I use Ford’s Whimbleton White for most of my stock rims- after prepping the rims as I would any painted surface. It’s a Dupliclor spray can!

Happy 4th everyone!

This popped up on Instagram:

They kept the wagoneer roofline- but they’re also using sportside fenders, so it makes sense.

Looks like a Ford chassis? I think it would look better with the J-Trucks taller roof line, but its a cool truck. One issue is that the front bumper is going to have to be gigantic to cover all that front area up.

Yes, Ford Drivetrain/running gear for sure. It will be interesting to see what all that do to hide the front for sure. They also mentioned modifying the bed for proportionality reasons. The rear fenders need to come out more to cover the dually rear tires IMHO.

Yeah, treat the fenders as dually fenders, make the bed a bit wider to push them out. Its a cool project.

The Chevy brake pedal is out. The Jeep Gladiator/Wagoneer/FSJ version is mocked up.

Image

Not sure if the steering column will fit. So that is up next. Getting the brakes finalized along with installation of the steering column would be a BIG hurdle to cross!

Well, the Super Wag tilt column didn’t fit for two reasons.

1) the Chevy brake pedal needs to be trimmed up another 1/2” or more.

Image

Maybe even move the Jeep’s brake pedal over? I’ll need to mock up the steering column officially in it’s rightful place to see for sure.

2) the Chevy bracket on the inside of the firewall needs to be trimmed up where the Jeep column runs through the firewall.

Image

You can see where I used soapstone to mark the initial cut.

It’s never easy. If it were, everyone would be doing it. Image

I’m still working out the details on how to mount the brake pedal around the steering column. Two failed attempts, 3rd times a charm?

Image

I’m also inside the shop due to torrential rains. So I’m doing a bit of remodeling since the barn doors are gone:

MAN, I can't believe the dust on these doors. I can tell they were there through several projects.
Going to need some detailed pics of the bottom so I can rebuild it. He said he might just have you ship the dash.

Wall looks good.

Oh man, it the heat of the dismantling process of the doors I total spaced the dash! Image

Sorry Jaber. Is too your buddy coming up to the area anytime soon?

I have a buddy who lives in the Puget Sound area and he could take the dash over Snowualmie Pass so it could be picked up next time your buddy is in that area?
