Thank you Jaber, that’s very kind of you.

Kaiserjeeps (Sadies’ builder on the iFSJA site) and I took a road trip together and looked over 10, or more jeeps and a slew of FSJ parts near Desmet Idaho, this blue truck was one he wasn’t willing to sell at the time.

The owner, who lives off the grid, got a hold of me a few years after the road trip and asked if I was interested in his willys truck. Naturally, I was.

Not to hyjack, but this is my last build, 58 f100, 351w with sniper, independent front with disc, 4link rear on bags. ImageImage

I wrapped up the initial windshield install on her tonight. What a PITA.

It’s 61 degrees, new gasket, older windshield. I did it by myself. Glad the hard part is over.

I should look at the build thread forum once in a while. I found this thread from a referral, interesting stuff.


I have been planning a four door truck for twenty years, So far I have managed to collect all the parts. This includes the two extra roofs but after seeing the pictures you posted I am considering not using them. The misalignment is more than I expected. I think I will make a new panel if I ever get to that point.

The panel can be made in three sections, two sides and the top. Both sides being the same can be made from a single form. The top can have beads installed much like the beads on a Wagoneer roof. The beads will allow the panel to be formed with a gentle curve to match the truck roof. Instead of beads one could tack weld flanges to the underside instead of beads to get the same curve results. The three pieces can then be welded together.

For me, I think this approach involves less work and will provide better result.

A quad cab can be done with a Waggie roofline, too. There’s always more than one way to skin a cat, or a roof. It’s always good to have a plan, and parts.

Metal can be massaged and coaxed into final shape with hand, or pneumatic tools, and, of course, patience. It can also be redone.

She shifts into gear and stops (she’s on Jack stands).

I cut and bent up a shifter tube, but I left it air long just in case I need to adjust it later.

The steering column needs to be shortened, so I won’t be using the Super Wag column- I just couldn’t cut it up. I’ll save it for another day.

I opted to use a J10 column. It’s been cut down and I’m waiting on a new lower column bearing kit. The column will get whittled down and installed... at some point in the near future? Lol.

Hahaha, true, true! Sadly, though, it will likely get trimmed into a shorter height once the seats are installed.

I thought it best to keep it longer so it is easier to shorten later rather than cut it short, only to add to it later after the seats are in.

Right?! I hope it works out- so far it has; the shifter isn't fully welded on YET, so I can possible adjust it as/if when/ the seats are in. It's always a process.

I just saw your post; sorry for the delay... It's going slow! I'm wrapping up a 56 Fury Project and helping a buddy finish his Willys Wag while I wait on a decent frame to use for the build.

It doesn't help that I've been busy on the 20 acre homestead either.
