I see them everywhere in the early Maxima's. Not really a market for them for the diesels because everybody wants to swap for a 5 speed.

I only see front wheel drive Maxima's here now. It would be an awesome swap for my Comanche for fuel economy and with the Metric Tonne package, it would be worth while.

Wish I had known...for a Comanche I would look into a Mercedes om617 with an auto...a lot more power with the turbo and parts are more readily available

I still prefer the Nissan motor. I still have the manual for it around here someplace. People want an arm and a leg for the Mercedes stuff. Several for sale with dead motors and they want $3K plus! Then you need a cu$tom oil pan, tran$mission adapter, motor mount$, cooling $y$tem. For the Nissan motor, you already have the trans and swap the bell then make mounts and use the Jeep 3 core rad and it's good to go!

There's a cj10a on govdeals.com under aircraft tugs for $700 last time I checked.

4" too long for the Comanche but it fits FSJs and it's all stock parts too.

Ahh, wish I would have known and I would have pulled the trans too...shipping would have been a killer though.

If it was AW4, people would only need the bell and converter/flexplate to make it work (flexplate plate should be the same as the 280Z cars) Many years ago I took apart the injector pump on one and cleaned it out on the side of the highway because some no-mind took the filter element out of the fuel system!)

Flywheel and flex plate are not the same as the 280z's...learned that the hard way because that was my plan to use a gasser flywheel but neither one are the same. That's why I'm going a different route with my truck.

The guys who race the 280Z motors with the LD28 motor "stroker" say different.

I read through the z forums and finally got in touch with some people who had experience with the ld28 using the z parts instead of the other way around and they said that while you CAN bolt it up with some modifications the weight differences will either make the ld28 have no power at all or not even run.

The manual trans parts are nearly impossible to find so that is why I'm going a different route with the truck...oh, and more power

Just gonna put it out there that the j20 is going to be for sale soon...the sale will include all of the parts I've collected for the truck including the new cab, rocker panel replacements, dash, steering column, hood, drivers fender, boobie grill, and other numerous parts. The bed is off of the truck so I will sell it with or without the bed. I need to get over $1000 out of it I'm shooting for somewhere between $1000-$1500. Can't really put a price on it for all of the wonderful people on here. I will post up a real ad here once I can get around to it.
Thanks,
nc wag

I'd be willing to buy the grille and possible the dash(if it'll fit a 79 Waggie) if you decide to part it out.

The razor grill is bent and the boobie grill is staying for a future project. Both later style dashes have cracks. Debating whether to keep the whole truck or if I'm going to do the bodywork so that I have a good front clip for a body swap later on and sell the truck with everything else.

Shoot. That would be an awesome motor for a Comanche or little Cherokee.

The plan for the motor currently, once we find a flywheel, is to put it in a 240z or 280z.
