suspension Lift for a j2000

Post by 72j2000 »

I have a 1972 j2000, with the amc I6, 4wd, 3 on the floor. Ive got a decent list of mods lined up for it, but the one im having trouble with is a lift. The biggest lift i can find for it is a 4 inch from hell creek. the mounts and measurements are different then the j10, j20, j3000 etc. Id like to do a 6 inch suspension lift.

Call Hell Creek. They may be able to make taller springs for you.

But you should know a 6" kit will ride pretty stiff. And from experience, you don't want anything larger than a 33" or so tire with the i6. You can do 35's with 4.56 gears or the like, but it wont be a very fast truck.

Yeah, good point. I am considering a chevy small block v8 if I can find one cheap enough so i can run 36s. It is going to be my daily driver, so maybe 6 will be too much.

Well how about a SOA and shackle flip? That would net about 6 to 7 inches lift.

A j2000 is spring over from the factory. You can flip the rear hangers tho which gets you 3-4" of lift. That's how I run the rear on mine.
