I was trying to get my 78 cherokee with a 401 to start the other day. It has been sitting since the fall. So I hooked up a new battery and started cranking. It took a little while for the fuel filter to show it had fuel but that filled up. it almost fired a few times but never started. after a while the battery started to get a little weak so we hooked the jumper cables from our Liberty. even with that hooked up it eventually stopped cranking and the only noise it would make was the solenoid clicking. I decided to stop and charge the battery. now with the battery charged it still only clicks. I can manually turn the engine with a wrench and I dont think the starter it that old. not sure what to do next. thanks in advance for the help.
