I was at the dealership the other day checking out the new gladiators brought my fsj over and had a bunch of vultures around me. Anyway when looking at the underbody of these things i noticed the control arms and snall portions of the frame were rusting already.
The paint is flaking off the welds and i could actually scrape it off with a finger nail. All the welds on the control arms had rust and these Jeeps are litterally off the assembly line. I thought maybe it was a fluke so i looked at 5 others on the lot. Everyone of them had rust in the same spots. The welds on the frame in random spots were like this as well.
To give you an idea the control arms on my 22 year old grand cherokee zj have no rust and the welds have no rust on the unibody and frame and this Jeep has been in salt brine in the winter for over a decade in virginia.
I didnt grab pics because i had my phone in my car and forgot to take some but yea.. id look at your gladiators and see if you have rust forming. I can only imagine what they would look like in 5 years.

That's not rust. This has gone around on all of the JL forums. Its copper deposits from the contact tip of the mig welder used in manufacturing. The e-coat has trouble sticking to it. It in no way impacts the quality, strength, or longevity of the welds. It may be an eye sore to some.
However, I am questioning the purpose of this topic? Yes this is in the other jeeps area, but I fail to see the purpose of a thread that's sole purpose is to try and badmouth other vehicles.

You fail to see the reason i posted about rusted control arms. Ok i fail to see the point of your post !!
I know what rust and copper looks like . I also know what flaked paint looks like. It was rust plain and simple. And the paint was flaking off. No paint = rust. Mmmm your post really makes no sense at all. Because i know what i saw.
Ive never in my life seen flaked paint and rusted welds on a vehicle with 2 miles on it. Check your ego
